The Functional Skills Level 1 Maths Qualification is the equivalent to a Grade C or a PASS grade in SATS level Maths. By completing the exam and receiving your certificate, you will display a basic understanding of Maths. The qualification itself is Ofqual approved, meaning it follows the government curriculum. The Exam
The Functional Skills Maths Level 1 Online Exam is what you will take, and if passed, will gain you a qualification in Level 1 Maths. If for whatever reason, you are unable to pass, you can purchase a resit from us to take the exam again. We will also provide support for those resitting to ensure that they pass the second time. The pass mark for receiving a passing grade varies between our different papers. But generally the percentage required is around 50-60 percent. So aiming for that during your revision will better your chances of passing the exam.
The exam itself will be split into 2 parts. which you will be required to take all at once. These parts are the:
- Non-Calculator Paper – 30 minutes long, and based around maths questions that you can’t use a calculator to answer
- Calculator Paper – 1 hour 30 minutes long, and based around maths questions that you will be able to use a calculator to answer
Exam Boards
We are also affiliated with multiple exam boards, including Open awards, NCFE, and City & Guilds. So we are able to offer an exam and qualification that best suits your situation. As the types of qualifications and exams will be different, by been affiliated with multiple exam boards we can meet all your requirements.
The exam itself will be taken remotely from the comfort of your own home. So you won’t have to travel anywhere in order to sit your exam. You will however have to meet our requirements, which are covered below.
Requirements for taking your exam

A webcam (if one is not included in your pc)
A microphone (if one is not included in your pc)
The Zoom desktop application
Stable internet (Minimum 10 download and 1 upload)
A room where no one else will be present, with doors closed
A compatible web browser (Chrome. Edge, and Safari are okay)

Once you have exhausted the practice questions, you can move onto the exam ones. based around the questions that will appear in the exam. It gives you an idea of what the actual exam will be like.
Mock Exams
Once you have built up your skills, you can move onto the mock exams. They are 30 full exams that you can take in your own time. With mock exams based around the different exam boards we cover.

FAQ
The Functional Skills Maths Level 1 Exam is equivalent to a SAT Level Maths Exam. If you would like a GCSE equivalent exam, please check out the Functional Skills Maths Level 2 exam.
The Functional Skills Maths Level 1 Exam takes a total of 2 hours, and is split into 2 sections. You can spend up to 30 minutes on the Non-Calculator section of the paper, and then up to 1 hours and 30 minutes on the Calculator section of the paper.
Functional Skills Maths Level 1 is a base price of £225. If you would like to book an exam with little notice however, this price can be increased due to our dynamic pricing system.
Sadly there is not a free version of our Functional Skills level 1 Maths Exam. However we do have sections of our course that you CAN access for free if you would like.
