Here at Courses and Exams, we aim to inform you of what functional skills are, as well as how to gain access to them. Functional Skills as a whole is a Qfqual approved qualification, which is the equivalent to a GCSE grade of a C or 4 (a PASS in GCSE).

Functional skills itself is split into 2 parts, these being:

  • Functional Skills English Level 2
  • Functional Skills Maths Level 2

These qualifications are widely accepted by jobs, colleges, and universities so it can help you get into better job positions, university courses, as well as other course routes.

The Functional Skills exams are as hard as the original GCSE exams, so they can be very hard to ass if you have not studied the subject for several years. That’s why we here at Courses and Exams aim to provide all of the information you require regarding the exam itself, as well as the courses that are offered. For your convenience (and because of the pandemic) the exam itself, as well as any revision help will be given from the comfort of your own home, so no need to travel! All you will need is:

  • A pc or laptop
  • Internet
  • Web camera

The exam itself will be taken in exam conditions (they are very strict on this!) so make sure that you are in a room that no one can walk in, your mobile phone is turned off, you don’t have any resources that could help you, and so on.

Due to the wide range of resources available on the internet, it can be very easy to find ones that is no longer relevant, any before 2019 will be invalid due to the specification being reformed then. By taking our advice and using the resources we recommend, you can be confident that the resources you are using are the highest quality and relevant to the exam you will be taking.
