The best route for those who are needing a level 4 will be the functional skills level 2 maths and English. There are many advantages of the level 2 exams over the GCSE retakes. Firstly, you can take the exams from your own home which can be a big plus for many people. Another thing is that results would take around 2 weeks instead of the 2 months it would take for the GCSE retakes. In connection with this, you can sit the exam all year round so you can decide when you feel ready and prepared. Lastly, there is less content in the level 2 qualifications so there you can be more focused on what you revise and study.
