GCSE Biology Revision

This week we are focusing on revision materials for GCSE Biology. The most practical revision should start with a plan that you have the motivation to stick to, and knowing how to use the revision resources effectively. 

An issue we’ve identified with GCSE Biology revision is that a large number of students attempt the practice papers as their first step. By doing this you waste a valuable resource which should be used after you become confident with key topics and practice questions. To prevent this happening you can start by using revision notes to learn all the key topics. To build your confidence further, you should then apply this knowledge to practise questions where you can begin to see different contexts and difficulties of exam questions.

To assess your learning, you can use the GCSE Biology practice papers. Every time you complete a paper it’s important to mark it up and make clear notes of any mistakes. This will help you learn from any mistakes and revisit topics where you may have dropped marks. A key thing to remember when going through past papers is it is normal for your mark to fluctuate, the more important thing is picking out and noticing general trends.
