Functional Skills level 2

Introduction

The Level 2 qualification is the equivalent to a PASS grade in the subjects English and Maths. This is at a GCSE level and can be utilized to access higher education, higher-level jobs, as well as other course routes.

The whole process of receiving the Functional Skills Level 2 Qualification will be done from the comfort of your own home (this includes taking the exam itself). It can be split into 2 parts, these being the Course and the Exam, which will be covered below.

How do the Functional Skills exams work?

Our Functional Skills exams are all online. On your exam day you will receive an email from one of our invigilators, with a Zoom Meeting ID and Passcode to join the call. Please join the call as soon as possible as the invigilator will walk you through the rest. We also provide mock exam papers so you can try out the exam setup and get used to how it works.

How long does the Maths exam last?

The Functional Skills Maths exam lasts a total of 2 hours. It is split into 2 different sections, sat back to back, being the Non-Calculator paper, which is 30 minutes long, and the Calculator paper, which is 1 hour and 30 minutes long.

How long does the English exam last?

The Functional Skills English exam is a total of 3 hours and 30 minutes. It is split into 3 different sections, 2 of which are sat back to back, and the other on another day. The Reading and Writing exams are both 1 hour long, these are the exams sat back to back. The Speaking, Listening and Communicating exam is 1 hour and 30 minutes long, sat on a separate day.

What is the pass mark for the exam?

The average pass mark for the exams is between 50-55%. We cannot provide an exact figure as this answer varies between exams.

What if I need to resit?

If it comes to you needing to resit, we have the facilities to do so! Including a support team to help you go through the process.

Is your course relevant to "Exam Board"?

As long as your exam board follows the government's level 2 maths curriculum the answer to this question is yes! Our team has worked hard to follow this curriculum with the course content.

How much studying do you recommend?

Our recommendation is between 45-50 hours studying before your exam. As every learner has their own way of studying you can do as much or as little as you think you need, the course will be completely accessible to you!

Is it possible to book my exam separately?

You are able to book your exam separately if you would like. We do highly recommend you purchase the bundle with the course however as it increases your chance of passing drastically! There is also a discount purchasing them together as well.

What other materials are there aside from the course?
